THE ISSUANCE OF $597,470,000 OF BONDS BY GEORGETOWN INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT FOR THE ACQUISITION, CONSTRUCTION, RENOVATION AND EQUIPMENT OF SCHOOL BUILDINGS, THE PURCHASE OF SCHOOL SITES AND SCHOOL BUSES AND LEVYING THE TAX IN PAYMENT THEREOF. THIS IS A PROPERTY TAX INCREASE.

THE ISSUANCE OF $3,860,000 OF BONDS BY GEORGETOWN INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT FOR THE RENOVATION AND IMPROVEMENT OF THE DISTRICT ATHLETIC FACILITIES AND LEVYING THE TAX IN PAYMENT THEREOF. THIS IS A PROPERTY TAX INCREASE.

The total bond proposal is $649,510,000. The estimated tax impact on property owners could range from zero cents to 1 cent per $100 valuation, depending on the timing of the sale of bonds.  The tax impact could also be less than projected if the district’s tax base grows more than anticipated and/or a lower interest rate is secured.

For the average GISD homeowner, a 1-cent tax increase is $2.77/month.
